The Boundaries of Babel: the brain and the enigma of impossible languages

There are two distinct perspectives to look at the relationship between human language and the brain, i.e. where and what neurons fire. The role of linguistic theory is essential in both cases: I will show that the identification of “Impossible languages”, that is of non-recursive syntax, and the recording of “the sound of thought” in inner speech provides two major examples of these two perspectives.
